SHOWING WITHOUT GOING

Connections

Art at/around your home

Examples
students

A group of students in Rome started during the first lockdown a small network of 'window listeners'. Each student opened their window and let the others listen in on what whas happening in their neighbourhood. They extended the network to students all over the world.

Approaches

The creation of performative events that happen in people's own homes. This may involve an exterior team of performers entering a home, other audience members arriving, the addition of sound, light, objects, or simply adjustments or attention given to what is already there. It may be possible to use what is already there: electricity, water, windows, family members, kitchen utensils, ancestral memories, a Hi-Fi system, the darkness of a windowless toilet....

Questions

What/Who is local/non-local?

Questions

Some forms of SWG might be available to be presented indefinitely. How to 'end' an artwork, or when to ‘reopen'? Until when is an artwork still / most relevant? Who would be the ‘right’ person to decide this and act upon this?
